Memories of summertime: 2011 NDG Art Walk
On this 23rd day of September, the automnal equinox puts a definitive end to summer. As I reminisce about warmer temperatures, I relive fond memories such as the NDG Art Walk of August 28th: the culmination of a week long celebration of the arts, held in front of the Coop la maison verte.
Let me introduce you to some of the artists I met that day:
This is Lorraine Albert, the first artist I met. Lorraine paints on canvas as well as on irregular surfaces. She also does photography and is more and more interested in performance art.
One of a kind skateboards by Lorraine Albert. I especially loved the vintage photo transfers.
Kendra Boychuk draws inspiration from nature and her paintings have a whimsical element to them. My favorite piece: the portrait of nature guru, David Suzuki.
Here, Jenny Schade is painting on clay sculptures. Sublime.
Zooming in on Jenny Schade's work.
Singer-songwriter, author and proud father of the illustrator, here is Pat (Lp) Camozzi with his latest work: Spice Kapita, a wonderful book for children and adults about the adventures of a young boy through dance.
Perusing Pat (Lp) Camozzi's book.
Artiste Nancy Long is wild about sugar! This Gummi Bear painting made my day.
Nancy Long painting a Ring-Pop.
Thanks to Lana Hensel, I was in the know about the NDG Art Walk.
This wasn't the first time Lana has done live painting.
I just love looking through Lana Hensel's sketchbook. Note the multicoloured tractor!
Kids were able to participate in activities such as drawing on the sidewalk with chalk...
...even big kids got involved!
My drawing: a duck-billed platypus..
Musicians added to the great vibe!
