What do family, heros, frames and fairys have in common? Jason Kirk of Kirk Originals eyewear set the record straight during his two day stay in our Saint-Denis shop last Friday and Saturday.
Looking at a pair of Kirk Originals glasses with their wild colours that are oh so now, it is somewhat surprising (and refreshing) to learn that the company has been family run since the 1920s. Jason's grandfather was a designer and manufacturer of frames and his father was an optician: Jason's designs are now propelling the Kirk family's love of eyewear into exciting new directions.
"Your glasses are your best friend", says Jason. And he's right! They stick with you through work, school, concerts and parties, good times and bad. Each frame from the K.O. heros collection is equipped with its very own superhero name and, get this-- Facebook account!
These babys are like candy for your eyes: luminous colours, 3D textures, shimmer and kinetic art. Jason Kirk asserts that movement is the thread that unifies all collections from Kirk Originals.
I asked Jason what the secret is behind the unique glitter effect of the Saturn collection. You heard it here first: "At night, when the factory's closed, we shut off the lights and lock the doors. Then fairys come and dance all over our frames."
